Sectoral Language Training – Vaktaal
Introduction and Objective
To better prepare participants for the Dutch labor market, we are organizing a Professional Dutch (Vaktaal) Program focusing on the Dutch used in business life. The aim of the program is not only to improve participants' general language levels but also to ensure they learn the professional language they will need in the sectors they wish to work in; enabling them to use terms, expressions, and communication styles correctly and appropriately.
The program will be conducted in collaboration with APIS Academy and with the support of We’RHERE sector coaches. With the experience of our previously successful IT vaktaal trainings, the content has been prepared to suit both language learning and the real needs of the sectors. Thanks to the modules integrated into the projects, participants will both gain expertise and learn the professional language of that field.
💼 Professional Fields to be Trained
In this period, integrated with existing We’RHERE projects, professional language training will be offered for the following fields:
IT Vaktaal
Terms specific to software, system administration, and IT processes. (Offered with Dutch and English language options.)
Technical / Engineering Vaktaal
Professional terminology used in engineering, production, site management, and technical operations fields.
Education / Teaching Vaktaal
Dutch education system, in-school communication, pedagogical terms, and language adaptation for the teaching profession.
📊 Operational Structure of the Program
The training process is built on two main pillars: theoretical lessons and practical coaching sessions:
🌐 Weekday Professional Language Lessons
- Format: Online interactive sessions.
- Duration: Over a total of 10 weeks, 2 days a week, 3 hours per day.
- Class Structure: Participants from the same sector will be grouped together as much as possible.
- Make-up: If necessary, missed lessons will be made up by planning them together with the participants.
⚡ Weekend Coaching and Sector-Focused Support
In addition to weekday lessons, participants carry out practical applications with sector coaches over a total of 10 sessions:
- Sector-specific words, concepts, and current expressions used in business life.
- Sample cases from real work environments (case studies) and applied speaking exercises.
- Format: Can be conducted online or face-to-face depending on the need. Participants carry the language to the real field by simulating tasks with the coaches.
🗓️ Program Content (Weekly Curriculum)
The 10-week content plan prepared for participants to establish professional communication step by step:
- Daily business communication practices
- Understanding and giving instructions clearly
- Questioning techniques and basic vocabulary used in institutions
- Teamwork communication models
- Use of active expression
- Describing business processes and operations
- Explaining current ongoing work
- Using professional terms correctly in sentence structure
- Reporting completed work and finished projects
- Making plans and setting future goals
- Managing progress and process communication
- Evaluating work done, receiving and giving feedback
- Expressing oneself more comprehensively and professionally
- Intensive speaking and communication exercises focused on business life
🎯 Role of Sector Coaches
Sector coaches will take on two important tasks throughout the program:
- Support in Weekend Lessons: They will provide full guidance to participants on professional terminology, sentence building skills, real business scenarios, and tasks given in the lessons.
- Contribution to Training Content: By providing opinions and suggestions during the development of training materials, they will contribute to ensuring the content is perfectly tailored to the IT, Technical / Engineering, and Education / Teaching fields. Additionally, the progress of the program will be evaluated in meetings held at certain intervals.
⏱️ Program Calendar and Processes
- Preparation Process: An introductory meeting will be held with sector coaches and supporters. Training contents and the weekend program will be prepared quickly.
- Program Start: The weekend coaching program will begin. Weekday lessons will start simultaneously after the group planning is completed.
- Program End: The training and coaching process will be successfully completed. Lesson days and times will be shared with the participants later and will be planned according to the availability of the participants and instructors.
📜 Certificate and Purpose of the Program
Participants who successfully complete the program will be awarded a Certificate of Participation. With the combination of APIS Academy's language training, sector coaches' support, and practical work, participants are offered practical training they can use directly in business life.
This program helps participants achieve the following goals:
